GEM&BOLT Co-Founder AdrinAdrina shares her radically simple self-care rituals to take with you along the winding road. Her top 5 tips to recharge + reset during transient times below.
- Mini Meditation: I meditate for 10-30 minutes immediately after rising. If I don’t meditate first thing in the morning, then it is likely I won’t. If you’re looking for a guided practice, I suggest Waking Up, a guided meditation by Sam Harris. It is an amazing meditation app as well as a focused approach to consciously help train the mind to simply observe its surroundings and self.
- 10 Minutes of Yoga & 1/2 hour walk: It’s as simple as that.
- Oil Pulling: Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic practice that is said to support dental hygiene + the immune system. I prefer to use coconut oil, because it also whitens the teeth, but when I’m on the road, I collect mini olive oil bottles from hotels and use those! If you are unfamiliar with the practice, here’s everything you need to know from our friends at Goop. I do mine for 5 minutes a day, though 10-20 is recommended.
- Journaling: Just before meditating, I journal a few lines about my dreams and the overall state of my heart & mind. I find this communication tool to be a productive tracking mechanism in order to review patterns + potentially shift them. I end the day by marking down the events that passed me by in a few simple words. This process seems to really help solidify the observation process, while also making space for more clear perspective.
- Rocks & Pearls: When I’m on the road, I always bring some stones along to assist with overall connection, balance & purification. I hang out with them, sleep with them, and sometimes I even bathe with them! Lately, my travel companions are tourmaline, laboaradite, tanzanite, flourite, white + pink quartz, black obsidian, pearls and a random cornish stone I found while hiking.
